March 2026 marks 730 days of assistance provided for the winners of the 2nd GYAAR Studio Indie Game Contest.
Despite being scattered fragments of bright ideas just two years ago, they have since grown into strong creations through the trial and error afforded by the program's multi-faceted support. Some titles have already been unleashed unto the world, and some are right around the corner, but all of them are filled with the dreams of the award winners.
The end of March 2026 marks the end of developer support from GYAAR Studio, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the road.
We will continue to cheer on creators and their activities from the front lines.
Comments from the winning developers
We would like to thank everyone from GYAAR Studio from the bottom of our hearts for the unforgettable memories. We were making our first game with no prior experience or awards, and Black Tangerine was just a team of nerdy university students who liked games, so being able to make KILLA with their help was not only good fortune for us, but also a valuable experience.
When the members of Black Tangerine meet, we often talk about our memories of that day in March 2024.
We were discussing our plans if the worst were to happen to our submission. Just when we were bringing each other down, what happened next were beyond our wildest dreams.
The moment remains deeply engrained in our memories, as it was the first time we felt that our dreams had come true, and was a crucial first step for us.
We owe it to the people who believe in us, listen to our concerns, and genuinely support us when we had nothing to call our own.
The team will continue to work hard on making the game better and continue growing, always remembering the help we received on the way and hopefully paying them back in the future.
We successfully released our game thanks to the support by the GYAAR Studio team!
If anything, the prize money was a huge help. We were able to save our company from bankruptcy, and we were able to use the money to increase the quality of our graphics and music beyond our initial targets.
The monthly play sessions were also very helpful. Of the winners, I think I participated the most. Demoing the game at the play sessions became my motivation to continue developing my game, so it helped me make progress, and the feedback I got from the sessions helped make the game better.
When exhibiting at events, I really appreciated all the help I got from people, especially those who took time out of their day off.
I hope that the community will continue to create better and better games in the future.
Thank you for two years of support.
In addition to the prize money, the play sessions and feedback from veteran developers helped greatly improve my game.
Exhibiting at gamescom also let me see how players outside Japan enjoyed our games, and the SUPERCELL office visit provided an opportunity to learn about industry-leading development environments and development philosophies.
Having friendly competiton with other game creators looking to complete their games was another valuable benefit.
Each of these were special experiences I wouldn't have had if it wasn't for this contest.
They were valuable not only for my game, but for my personal growth as well.
I would like to use everything I learned here in the games I make in the future.
Algolemeth received all kinds of support, from audio and graphics to event participation. It dissipated the doubts I had when I was making the game by myself, and enabled me to put in more exciting things than I initially planned for.
I was also delighted that the people I met through the contest treated me like a game creator. This has been my dream since I was a child, and it had become reality before I even realized it. I made frends with people who I could talk passionately with about games, and my days throughout the last two years have been delightful.
That said, there's no meaning in making a game unless you finish it and share it with the world. I'll put everything I have into development, so look forward to the finished game! Thank you for everything!
Honorable Mention

I deeply thank GYAARCon and the extensive support they provided.
Through this program, I was able to gain valuable experiences that I wouldn't have otherwise.
It allowed me to see the issues and possibilities of my game by having opportunities to look at the game objectively, get opinions from other creators, and show off my game through play sessions and other events.
I believe the support I received will continue to affect our game development activities for years to come.
It gave me the confidence to trust myself to try and make good games.
I also highly treasure the communication I had with the creators from the first and second contests. Being able to put myself in an environment with other people with the same goals was a valuable experience. Having this environment of like-minded people enabled not only casual talk like how we were doing, to deep dives into game development.
I would like to express my gratitude again for this opportunity, and I will use this experience in my journey to make good games!
